The North Dakota Corn Utilization Council is pleased to announce their annual CornVention on February 8th at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND.
CornVention: Growing Tomorrow’s Farmers will feature speakers highlighting weather, soil health, social media advocacy and markets. Registration and a continental breakfast will start at 7:30 am. Mick Kjar, meteorologist, will provide a forecast of the 2017 growing season, followed by a panel titled “Getting Started with Soil Health.” The panel, moderated by Dr. Abbey Wick, soil health specialist from NDSU Extension, will include farmers Terry Wehlander and Scott Huso, and crop consultants Mark Huso and Lee Briese.
After a luncheon and the annual meeting of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association, the Peterson Farm Brothers will educate and entertain with their presentation titled “Advocating for Agriculture through Social Media.” The Peterson Farm Brothers are young farmers from central Kansas known for their music parody videos and social media content promoting agriculture. Their YouTube videos have received over 40 million total views, which has led to many opportunities around the world to promote agriculture.
The final speaker of CornVention is Dr. Bill Wilson, who will give a market update entitled “Dynamic and Structural Changes in World Commodity Trading and Logistics.” Wilson is a professor in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at NDSU.
A trade show with over 30 vendors will also be held during CornVention. Around 3:30 pm, a grand prize drawing of Visa gift cards will be held. To be eligible, attendees must be members of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association and be present.

The North Dakota Corn Utilization Council (NDCUC) was created in 1991 and consists of 7 members representing 7 districts. The NDCUC oversees how North Dakota’s corn checkoff dollars are spent on research, education and promotion of corn and corn products.
The North Dakota Corn Growers Association (NDCGA) is the farmer-led organization focusing on policy that impacts North Dakota corn producers. The NDCGA consists of 14 growers from 7 districts along with 4 at-large directors. The NDCUC and NDCGA work together to grow a healthy, profitable business climate for northern corn.
